Disabled American Veterans

Garry J. Augustine is the Executive Director of Disabled American Veterans. A Vietnam Veteran, he was severely wounded by a landmine explosion that resulted in multiple shrapnel wounds, loss of his spleen and a loss of use of both his left hand and left foot. Following his disability-related discharge, Garry earned his undergraduate degree from Ohio in 1978 and his Masters in Sociology from Cleveland State University in 1983.

As a disabled Veteran having worked at the DAV in numerous capacities since 1988, Garry is uniquely qualified to serve as the million-member-strong DAV’s main spokesperson before Congress, The White House and the VA, leading nearly 300 National Service Officers and over 100 offices throughout the country.
