HillVets is proud to announce the appointment of the Honorable Patrick J. Murphy to our Advisory Board.
“We are very excited to have Patrick J. Murphy joining our Advisory Board. Patrick’s passion for the Veteran community and his expertise is highly valued,” said HillVets Founder Justin Brown. “Patrick has been actively involved in HillVets’ mission through our LEAD program and CAPCON policy conference.”
Mr. Patrick Murphy was the first Iraq War Veteran elected to the U.S. Congress in 2007, representing the Eighth Congressional District of Pennsylvania. He served on the Armed Services, Select Intelligence, and Appropriations committees. In 2016, Mr. Murphy was appointed as the 32nd Under Secretary of the Army and Chief Management Officer by President Obama and assumed the duties of Acting Secretary of the Army shortly after.
Mr. Murphy is a guest lecturer for the HillVets LEAD (Leadership, Ethics, Advocacy, Dedication to Self-Improvement) program and participated in HillVets’ CAPCON 7 Conference in July 2022. The LEAD Program is a leadership and professional development course, offering Veterans, spouses, and survivors; active-duty Service Members, Guardsmen and Reservists; Capitol Hill or Executive Branch staffers; and VSO employees growth in the policy and politics ecosystem with tools, networking, and mentorship to take on leadership positions in policy.
“I am honored and thrilled to be a part of this amazing team,” said Mr. Murphy. “Their mission clearly aligns with my strong belief that our country needs more veterans in public service after the military. I’m excited about what we can do together.”
